Why it's important to create an attractive workspace

Research has shown that having an attractive, well lit, personalised space for your business, is a key factor in fostering a productive working environment.

Research has shown that having an attractive, well lit, personalised space for your business, is a key factor in fostering a productive working environment.

In our office space here at Heritage, we are noticing that the old, grey filing cabinets of the 80s are being switched for attractive modern modular storage and open shelving. Traditional blue operator chairs are being skipped in favour of mesh back and ergonomic chairs, with employers keen to ensure their teams are comfortable in their space. Let’s face it - we can often spend up to 40 hours per week in the office, so it is important that it is a pleasant environment.

Over the last few years we have seen a change in décor requirements for our business tenants. Ten years ago, neutral or cream coloured walls were favoured but we are seeing more brilliant white, and corporate colours. Offices are being personalised to create the WOW factor for both employees and visitors.

We also noted that clients’ requirements are changing when it comes to collaborative space. We are seeing squishy sofas where board tables once sat, and in the case ofScriba PR – who kindly allowed me to use their photo above- beautiful bespoke meeting furniture.

If you’re not in a position to overhaul your office just yet – how about a little greenery? Plants are a great, cost effective way to freshen up a space. Real or artificial, they have been shown to improve memory retention and focus in a study by Dr Chris Knight from Exeter University. Their research concluded that employees were 15% more productive when they had a plant on, or nearby their workspace.

I would love to work with you to create your dream office space – and with our brand new space currently in the planning stages, you can be involved from the very beginning. www.heritageexchange.com
